A bright and very comfortable late Spring day -- about 21C. Approximately 70 guests —students from grades 1-8 and parents spent the afternoon in the woodlot studying flora and fauna. Spring flowers and the emerging plants received a lot of attention. Trees of particular interest were the Bitternut Hickory, Red Oak, Black Walnut and Shagbark Hickory — most had not seen hickory trees before. Although the Emerald Ash Borer has not yet arrived in their home area, they did see a preview of what it will mean to them.
